Sport is enjoyed at many levels in the Rose & Crown. As sponsors of the local soccer team, there is always someone to talk to about ‘The Beautiful Game’. International matches of soccer and rugby are shown on the big screen in the Sportsman’s Bar and usually draw a good crowd of enthusiastic supporters.

With the river Wye just across the road, there has to be a strong interest in angling. Many record salmon have been caught in its waters and there is a wide variety of other fish to be caught, both coarse and game. Even sea-bass come up the river Wye this far as it is tidal until the next bridge but one, at Bigsweir.

Indoor and outdoor sports

The noble art of arrows is practiced enthusiastically here, with two teams vying for honours in local leages, and there is a very successful pool team.

Whether you want to participate, or simply pass the time of day with fellow enthusiasts, you will find you are in good company here at the Rose & Crown, at the heart of sport in the Wye Valley.
